VERB + GERUND The English "gerund" is used regularly after numerous verbs. The most relevant are listed below. All of them can be followed by names instead of "gerunds". Remember that the "gerund" always functions as a noun in the sentence. Some of these verbs can also be followed by a proposition introduced by "that". Verbs whose use requires supplementary explanations include links to their specific pages Examples: Some verbs can be followed by a "gerund" or an infinitive.
